Belgian physicians are euthanizing patients even if patients don’t want to die

There have been many debates for decades (perhaps centuries) about the ethics and morality of allowing people to die when it can be prevented. There are those who, because of medical problems, simply cannot have a proper quality of life, so their right to die has been a topic of discussion.

Then, there are those who decide for their patience whether or not they should be killed. The doctors in question are in Belgium and the patience they were killing apparently didn’t know it was happening to them.

According to CNS News:

In 52.7 percent of these cases, the patients were 80 years of age or older. The decision to euthanize was not discussed with the patient in 77.9 percent of the cases because he/she was comatose, had dementia, or “because discussion would have been harmful to the patient’s best interest,” according to the study.
