China takes its internet censorship from bad to worse

There are more people hired by the Chinese government to censor the internet than the entire population of Nebraska. Now, the Communist regime is stepping up its censorship game even further by making “network security officers” that will work with Chinese websites and web firms to hunt down those committing such crimes as spreading rumors. Seriously.

The country accounts for around 22% of the entire planet’s internet usage. This move strengthens the “Great Firewall of China” to the point that nearly 1/4th of the internet population will likely never be able to see the truth that the internet provides about their own country. This goes beyond censorship. This is about molding the minds of the largest country in the world to have a skewed perspective about the rest of the planet.

It is our priority to maintain the reliability and security of our platforms to protect our customers.” Baidu and Tencent have yet to respond to the news.
