NFL All-Pro Joey Porter Arrested

After signing a $17.5 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals, All-Pro Linebacker Joey Porter was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest, and assaulting a peace officer.

The incident occurred outside a Taco Bell in Bakersfield, CA a few miles from Torrance Toyota. After a friend was pulled over, Porter pulled over as well and attracted the attention of the Highway Patrol Officer.

After allegedly smelling alcohol in the car, the officer asked Porter to step out. Instead, Porter attempted to roll up his window. When the officer reached into the car to unlock the door, Porter reportedly slapped the officers hand and exited the vehicle “in a confrontational manner.”

The police drew their weapons and ordered Porter to the ground. The 6’3″, 255 lb. Porter refused, but eventually allowed the officers to place him in handcuffs.

According to TMZ, “Additional officers were called to the scene to aid in the arrest. Porter was eventually taken in to custody and booked at a nearby jail. He was eventually charged with 3 misdemeanors — DUI, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer.”

Porter spentĀ  three seasons with Miami before joining the Cardinals. He racked up 41 tackles and nine sacks in 14 games last season.
