Organic Food Prices: Poised for Lower Prices

The assertion is that many things happening in the world of food, from the food crisis itself to market competition, will drive down prices of organic foods across the board.  This is good news for those who are currently eating organic foods as well as those who have wanted to eat organic foods but considered them too expensive.

Health and the economy normally run parallel.  As the economy gets worse, so too does the level of health care.  This is one aspect of healthy living that bucks the trends a bit.  It’s minor in the whole scheme of things, but something worth noting nonetheless.

The last few weeks have seen many changes in the organic food market.  With dramatic increases in many foods including rice (+100%), chicken (+42%), wheat (+102%), and butter (+93%), many people are cutting food costs by avoiding organic selections.  As recent reports show organic sales plummeting 20%, other reports show an in increase in purchases of grocery store brands.

Yes, it is a matter of demand / supply. The prices are going to be affordable sometime sooner. Have you ever heard of scams where in regular food items are sold as ‘organic’ products?
