When we speak of a halo vehicle typically its meant to identify the top model in a lineup and the one that the automaker will offer to bring the highest price and offer the most features. Ford has made a truck with the help of Galpin Auto Sports that is not a halo truck, but instead a HALO truck to celebrate the release of the new HALO 5: Guardian game that will be offered for the Xbox One. This is not the first time an automaker partnered with Galpin Auto Sports but it marks one of the most interesting vehicle offerings seen in a while.
The F-150 HALO Sandcat (what the creation is being called) started out as a Ford-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 with the V6 EcoBoost engine under the hood. Once Galpin Auto Sports got hold of it the truck was given a UNSC military style look which appears to come right out of the video game series itself and give a truck that Master Chief would certainly be proud to drive and carry his massive weaponry in. In order to give this truck the performance needed and not just the look Galpin had to go to work making it a truly Galpinized F-150.
The additions to the truck included an Addictive Desert Designs’ Baja XTR off –road conversion kit which included custom Fox Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack, and 17-inch wheel which were painted to match the olive drab green of the truck. Once these items were installed Galpin added some great off- road tires, the full matt-finish green body paint and some military style lettering and logos to give the truck the full look of a military desert runner that would take down others in the game.
On the inside an Xbox One was adding and specially mounted along with screens mounted in the back of the head restraints. this mounting of the game system in the rear seat area offers a military style look with the UNSC logo on the sides and special seating for the two controllers to be positioned above the console. Not much else was added to the interior of the truck save for some olive green accents that bring the feeling of the HALO game to the inside of this awesome F-150 to complete the look and experience.
As the HALO Sandcat spurns the imagination and possibilities of what could be and what adventures this awesome truck could have in store for the brave fighters in the game Ford has designated it as the M552 giving it a true HALO designation. The truck may show up in the game and show off its true purpose when the game is released late in October of this year. The F-150 HAL Sandcat M522 was proudly on display at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the 2015 Electronic Experience Expo that took place from June 16-18 this year, giving gamers an amazing truck to view and enjoy as a life-sized possible UNSC service vehicle.
