The list of reasons that drones are a threat continues to increase. Not only are they causing havoc around airports, on beaches, and over fires, they’re also being used by hackers to crack into computer networks in skyscrapers.
Remote hacking is challenging when you’re close to the computer, but it’s nearly impossible when trying to get into an unconnected machine in an area that the hacker can’t reach. Those that were traditionally considered safely tucked away at the top of skyscrapers are now vulnerable thanks to remote technology hackers are putting on drones.
According to Yahoo News:
Hackers at Def Con early on turned to drones for sniffing out unprotected wireless Internet networks, but capabilities Jordan said were built into the Aerial Assault drone raised the ante with automated tools that could be flown past physical defenses.
