The ideologies of the left and right have been practiced throughout the centuries in nearly all democratic societies, and in these countries we can see the fruit of those agendas and ideologies today.
One commonality throughout the times is that each side will have their “representative” who encapsulates the very ideas that each hold. Usually, and for obvious reasons, the chosen representative (not always by choice) will be one who is revered in society. In the case of America’s far left, and for the first time in history, the Pope seems to fit that criteria.

The all inclusive Pope Francis has broken many boundaries and ruffled many feathers, primarily because he seems to go against church traditions that have long been upheld. He is a Jesuit Pope after all.
Pope Francis, being from Buenos Aires in Argentina, is used to living under a form of capitalism. However, he has been very outspoken on “unbridled capitalism’, which he says causes an economy of inequality and exclusion evidenced by him observing that there is more concern over the stock market than an elderly person who has died because of exposure.

This on the surface is true. But, this is not why the American far left embraces the pontiff.
The Pope’s statements on capitalism have been interpreted by many to mean that he is against capitalism and this of course perked the ears of many liberals in the United States. He has also said, “who am I to judge” when asked if homosexuals would go to hell for the unnatural affections toward the same sex.
When asked in private what his views are on homosexuals, Pope Francis said, "Who am I to judge?" ❤️

Let’s not forget that he has also expressed his concern for “global warming”, another hot topic among the left.
No wonder Obama likes the Pope. They want new global authorities to battle #ClimateChange http://t.co/xFK7aJEhO2 #MakeDCListen!

Francis recently called for an open church to those who have been divorced and remarried, which goes strictly against the Catholic doctrine. But, what really got many in a tizzy was when he called for indulgences to women who have had an abortion, so long as they express contrition. That was nearly unheard of.

Pope Francis has inserted himself in many political issues in the short time since his election, although it is very common for the papacy to do this it isn’t common to go against the fundamental values the papacy as a whole holds.
The current Pope’s outspokenness on political issues along with his inclusiveness has made the far left drool, and it is precisely why they welcome the Pope with open arms. It isn’t because they seem him as a man of God. It isn’t because he believes in Jesus. It is because he is a person of reverence and his views seem in step with the liberal ideologues and what they try to push through their agenda.
It’s completely political, and quite frankly, sad.
